SUMMER DREAMS

Changes.

They can happen quick.

If you put forth the effort.

I look back to this time last year and my mindset about summer (& especially spring) were terrible.

Spring has been my toughest season for as long as I can remember.

Summer a close second.

That's changed.

I'm choosing not to look at it that way anymore.

My body and I welcome the challenge they bring.

I now have the wisdom and tools I need to get through it.

& better yet....to enjoy it.

I can't wait.

Don't get me wrong...I still love my four seasons. (Hey, Fall. You're my forever favorite.)

But, for the first time, I am confident in all my summer dreams.

Bring it on summer, I'm ready for the challenge.

If you are unaware of why these seasons are difficult for me, here is a little re-cap.

1. Joint swelling due to the dampness of spring.

2. Heat makes things swell.

3. Things swell in heat, that mean's my blood vessels too. My joints and tissues are already "lax" due to the EDS so adding heat on top of it makes it even more difficult to keep it all together. Also, it makes it difficult to pump the blood back to my heart. This causes severe POTS symptoms. It makes me extremely lethargic.

I know every day is not going to be perfect, but I do know that every day will be a hell of a lot better than it was last year.

I can't wait to knock it out of the park.

Yesterday I laid in the sun on the back porch at my in-laws all day.

It was beautiful.

Just me, a towel, water, some books, music and a pillow.

I did some reading, some meditating, listened to some good tunes and may have accidentlaly taken a quick 35 minute nap in which I woke up to myself drooling on my pillow. It was a good nap.

See you soon, summer dreams.

xoxo
